Property Taxes

Property taxes are billed annually and are a combination of the tax rate and the assessed value of the property. Council approved a 0% Municipal Tax increase in 2021. 2021 Property Tax Notices were mailed on Friday May 21st, 2021. 

Unpaid Property Taxes

  • A 5% late penalty is applied to unpaid current year taxes after July 2nd.
  • A 2nd 5% late penalty is applied to unpaid current year taxes after August 31st.
  • An unclaimed home owner grant is considered outstanding taxes and the above penalties apply.

  • Utilities are billed quarterly in January, April, July & October.
  • Payments are due March 15th, June 15th, September 15th and December 15th.
  • Due to COVID-19 the Village of Queen Charlotte will not apply penalties to late payments again for 2021 as long as paid by December 31, 2021.
  • 2021 utility balances must be paid by December 31, 2021 or the balance will transfer to your property tax account in January 2022, and accrue interest.

Paperless Billing Options

Unfortunately the online billing system does not have the capabilities we had hoped it would and we will be removing the system at the end of 2021. We will continue to evaluate options and hope to bring back paperless billing and credit card payments in the future. 

If you signed up for paperless billing, you do not need to make any changes, you will receive a paper bill for next quarter utilities in January 2022 as normal. After December 31st 2021, access to your online account will be deactivated.

The Village of Queen Charlotte offers eBilling as well as credit card payments. This system will be discontinued as of December 31st. 


Payment Options

There are multiple ways you can pay a property tax or utility bill:

Online/telephone banking

Use the Pay Bill feature in your Northern Savings Credit Union or Scotiabank account.

Credit card online payment

Available until end of 2021.

Mail a cheque to Municipal Hall, 903A Oceanview Drive, Queen Charlotte, BC, V0T1S0

Early enough to be received before the deadline (postdated cheques dated for the due date are acceptable). A postmarked date is not accepted as the date of payment, the payment date is the date that the cheque arrives at our office.

Dropbox at the Municipal Hall

Cheque, money order or cash in an envelope. The drobox is checked multiple times during business hours.

In person

(M-F, 8:30am – 4:30pm except holidays)

Cheque, money order or cash. Credit and debit cards not accepted in person.
