Property Taxes

Property taxes are billed annually and are a combination of the tax rate and the assessed value of the property. Council approved a 0% Municipal Tax increase in 2021. 2021 Property Tax Notices were mailed on Friday May 21st, 2021. 

Unpaid Property Taxes

  • A 5% late penalty is applied to unpaid current year taxes after July 2nd.
  • A 2nd 5% late penalty is applied to unpaid current year taxes after August 31st.
  • An unclaimed home owner grant is considered outstanding taxes and the above penalties apply.

  • Utilities are billed quarterly in January, April, July & October.
  • Payments are due March 15th, June 15th, September 15th and December 15th.
  • Due to COVID-19 the Village of Queen Charlotte will not apply penalties to late payments again for 2021 as long as paid by December 31, 2021.
  • 2021 utility balances must be paid by December 31, 2021 or the balance will transfer to your property tax account in January 2022, and accrue interest.

Homeowners can now view, download and pay their quarterly utilities online. Please reference your 2nd Quarter 2021 Utility Bill for information and unique online access code to register.

Payment Options

There are multiple ways you can pay a property tax or utility bill:

Online/telephone banking

Use the Pay Bill feature in your Northern Savings Credit Union or Scotiabank account.

Credit card online payment

Click here to set up an account. Please note a convenience fee applies to credit card payments.

Mail a cheque to Municipal Hall, 903A Oceanview Drive, Queen Charlotte, BC, V0T1S0

Early enough to be received before the deadline (postdated cheques dated July 2nd, 2021 are acceptable). A postmarked date is not accepted as the date of payment, the payment date is the date that the cheque arrives at our office.

Dropbox at the Municipal Hall

Cheque, money order or cash in an envelope. The drobox is checked multiple times during business hours.

In person

(M-F, 8:30am – 4:30pm except holidays)

Cheque, money order or cash. Credit and debit cards not accepted in person. The Village Office is now open to accept property tax payments. COVID-19 workplace safety plans are in place.

In person at Northern Savings

Current hours are: 10am – 3:00pm Mon – Fri.

Paperless Billing Options

The Village of Queen Charlotte is happy to now offer the option of eBilling as well as credit card payments. Residents can opt to go paperless or receive both paper and online utility bills and property tax notices. Residents will receive an email notification when bills are ready to view. If you do not sign up to view bills online, you will continue to receive a mailed bill as normal.

To set up an account, you'll need:

  • An email address you check regularly.
  • The paper copy of your most recent property tax &/or utility bill 
  1. Visit: https://app2.citizenservicecloud.com/login/villageofqueencharlotte
  2. Register with your name, email address and a password.
  3. Log in to your newly created account.
  4. Add a new utility account or property tax account using your account number & your online access code:
    • Property taxes: Your account # is your roll number without the 0 in front. (This will usually start with a 2, 3 or 4). The online access code is located below your name and address on your Property Tax Notice.
    • Utility bills: Your account # is a 4 digit number located in the top right table on your utility bill. The online access code is printed above this in red.
  5. Under settings (top right) you can select options for paperless, or both email and paper bills.
  6. If you wish to pay via credit card you can add your bill to the shopping cart, and check out like any usual online purchase. A convenience fee applies.
